What is Jeongdong Yahaeng?
Jeongdong is the neighborhood around Deoksugung, packed with old legation buildings, early modern schools and a cathedral from Korea’s opening-up era. Many of these sites are closed at night. During the festival they stay open, with concerts, guided programs and food. 34 venues take part this year.
Don’t miss
- Opening concert (Oct 30, 6:30 pm, in front of Junghwajeon Hall): A popera group and an orchestra perform in front of the palace’s main hall. If you go Friday, plan your evening around it.
- Neon photo zone: Near the Jeongdong roundabout, neon signs in the shape of local landmarks: the old Pai Chai school, the Seoul Anglican Cathedral and Deoksugung’s Seokjojeon (Stone Hall).
- Food zone: Jeongdong Park hosts a food zone, and about 20 nearby restaurants join a discount event.
Pre-booking has closed for guided programs like the British and Canadian embassy tours. The street shows, photo zone and food zone are still open on site.
